The purpose of this Screening Calculator is to help farm owners/operators determine whether an air quality permit is necessary for their operation. Please read the following instructions carefully before proceeding with the calculations.
Instructions
- Please remember that each CONTIGUOUS parcel of land is considered a single operation (aka Stationary Agricultural Source). For more information on the definition of contiguous land, click here.
- Enter the number of acres planted for each crop type at your operation. Click the ? button at the end of each row for a definition of the crop type.
- Enter the water depth (well depth) for each crop type. Water depth is the distance from the ground surface level to the water level in the well. If the water depth at your operation is unknown, leave the water depth at the default value of 100 feet.
- Click on the CALCULATE button to calculate NOx emissions from your operation.
- Read the instructions in the REQUIRED PERMIT section.
- Click on the PRINT button to print this page for your records. Please retain the printout as proof of completion.
